Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts – Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 8th June 2025

Welcome to Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts, a space for creative expression, emotional release, and connection through non-clinical therapeutic arts. These Terms and Conditions apply to all services offered by Angela Longbottom (“Facilitator”), including one-on-one sessions and group offerings such as the Middle Mess Arts Club.

By booking and/or attending any session, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. Nature of Services

  • All sessions offered, whether individual or group-based, are non-clinical therapeutic arts sessions.

  • While Ange is a registered counsellor, these services are not counselling or psychotherapy.

  • The focus is on creative expression, emotional regulation, nervous system support, and personal reflection through facilitated arts-based activities.

  • No mental health diagnosis, clinical assessment, or treatment will be provided.

  • Participants are responsible for their own wellbeing and should seek qualified clinical support if needed.

2. Eligibility and Participation

  • Participants must be 18 years or older.

  • Sessions are open to individuals who are emotionally stable enough to participate in group or creative expression sessions without clinical intervention.

  • It is your responsibility to inform the Facilitator of any accessibility or support needs prior to the session.

 

3. Confidentiality

  • One-on-one sessions are held in confidence except in cases where there is a legal obligation to disclose (e.g. risk of harm to self or others).

  • Group sessions are not confidential spaces. While participants are asked to respect one another’s privacy, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the group setting.

  • Please only share what you are comfortable with in a group context.

4. Group Participation – Code of Conduct

To ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for all members, the following Code of Conduct applies to all group sessions, including Middle Mess Arts Club:

Respect and Inclusivity

  • Treat all participants with respect, kindness, and care.

  • Listen actively and without judgement.

  • Avoid interrupting or dominating conversation.

Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination

  • Bullying, harassment, or any discriminatory behaviour (based on age, race, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, body size, disability, or background) will not be tolerated.

  • Any behaviour that threatens the emotional or physical safety of others may result in immediate removal from the group.

​

Boundaries Around Discussion

  • Sessions are designed to support personal creativity and emotional exploration, not debates or ideological discussions.

  • Political and religious discussions are not appropriate in this space.

  • Discussions should remain centred on your own experience and creative process.

​

Respect for the Process

  • Arrive on time and be fully present (where possible).

  • Refrain from giving unsolicited advice to other participants.

  • Honour your own creative pace and that of others—there is no “right” way to do this work.

5. Communication and Feedback

  • If you have concerns about a session or another participant, please contact Ange directly via email at hello@middlemess.com.au.

  • Feedback is always welcome and helps ensure the integrity and safety of the space.

6. Booking, Cancellations, and Refunds

  • Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged.

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the session for a full refund or credit.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours of the session are non-refundable unless due to emergency circumstances.

  • Group program fees are non-refundable once the program has commenced.

7. Limitation of Liability

  • By participating in any session, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for your personal wellbeing.

  • Middle Mess Arts Club and its facilitator(s) are not liable for any personal injury, emotional distress, or loss incurred during or after participation in sessions.

  • You agree to release the facilitator from any and all claims arising from your participation.

8. Intellectual Property

  • All materials, session content, and resources shared remain the intellectual property of Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts and Angela Longbottom unless otherwise stated.

  • You agree not to reproduce, share, or distribute session content without express permission.

9. Privacy

  • Your personal details are collected and stored in accordance with Australian privacy regulations and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.

  • You may request access to, or deletion of, your information at any time by contacting hello@middlemess.com.au.

10. Amendments

  • These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time.

  • Continued participation in sessions indicates acceptance of any changes.

PRIVACY POLICY

This policy outlines the ways in which I, Angela Longbottom T/As Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts handles the personal information of my clients. I take privacy seriously and I am committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Personal information

Personal information is any information about an individual that can be used to identify them directly or indirectly, such as name, address, phone number, email address and date of birth. Sensitive information is a type of personal information which includes details, for example, about a person’s racial or ethnic origins, political or religious beliefs, sexual orientation, health or genetic information, family court orders or criminal record. The breach of sensitive information is likely to leave people open to discrimination or embarrassment.

Why I collect personal information

The sharing of personal information by a client to Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts assists me to assess and support the client in processing their identified concerns. Personal information is retained to enable me to provide a relevant and informed service. Within my practice and due to my duty of care a client cannot be anonymous. A client may request to use a pseudonym, but a name as listed on ID’s is required.

How I collect personal information

I collect personal information through a variety of means, including: • the information you verbally share with me • written communication received from you via email, SMS or letter • online booking system • intake form • social media • the guardian of those under 18 years of age • a referral from your GP or another treating practitioner or service.

​Storage of personal information

To protect the personal information I hold from misuse or loss, I store it in several ways, all of which are secure and can only be accessed by me. The method of storage varies between types of information and includes both hard copies and digital versions (either on a secure server or offline). I do not retain any credit card or banking details once processing the payment is finalised. I also try not to retain unnecessary information, disposing of it securely from time to time depending on the type on information it is and my legal obligations. If I become aware of a security breach, I will promptly investigate and, where appropriate, take remedial action and notify the individual affected in accordance with the Privacy Act.

 

Disclosure of your personal information

I will not disclose personal information about you to third parties without your consent, except when the disclosure is required by law. It is unlikely that I will disclose any information to a recipient outside of Australia.

 

Accessing your personal information

You may request access to personal information I hold about you. I may ask you to specify what information you require and may charge a fee where I provide access. I deal with all requests for access to personal information as required by the Privacy Act. I may refuse to provide access if the Privacy Act allows me to do so. Integrity of your personal information I try to ensure that the personal information I collect is accurate and up to date. You may request an update or correction to personal information I hold about you and we will deal with all such requests as required by the Privacy Act.

 

Complaints

If you think your personal information has not been handled in line with the Privacy Act, please contact me in the first instance. I will investigate your complaint and try to promptly resolve your complaint directly with you. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, then you may make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).   • Therapeutic Arts Sessions: You can book and attend individual sessions with a therapeutic arts facilitator.

  • Resources: I provide mental health content, articles, videos, and self-help tools intended for informational purposes only. These resources do not replace professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Please note that the Site does not provide emergency services. In the event of an emergency, you should contact your local emergency services immediately.

4. Account Registration

Certain features of the Site, including counselling services, may require you to create an account. By registering, you agree to:

The Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts domain is hosted by Go Daddy, a US based company and leading registrar authorised to sell domain names in Australia.. The website host is WIX which is a publicly listed US company.

We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your personal and session data. Despite these efforts, we cannot guarantee that data transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Cookie Policy

Once you agree to allow our website to use cookies, you also agree to use the data it collects regarding your online behaviour. The data we collect by using cookies is used to customise our website to your needs. Please note that cookies don't allow us to gain control of your computer in any way. If you want to disable cookies, you can do it by accessing the settings of your internet browser.

My website contains links that lead to other websites. If you click on these links Middle Mess Therapeutic Arts is not held responsible for your data and privacy protection.
